About The Poet
Roderick Rosa is no stranger to getting creative on the page. Born and raised in Michigan, Roderick would create “books” out of printer paper, crayons, and staples before he could even spell the words he was writing. Whether it was a wild story about him and his dog, an epic dinosaur adventure tale, or an informational text written for his second-grade social studies unit, each one of Roderick’s stories continued to strengthen his passion for writing and knack for English.
Roderick began attending the Academically Talented Youth Program (ATYP), where he took Honor’s English 9 and 10 classes. The courses deepened his love for literature even further and exposed him to new kinds of writing, including poetry. From his first poem, “A Flowing Flower,” Roderick found that poetry offered a powerful way to convey and release complex emotions that basic prose could not.
Currently completing Honor’s English 12, Roderick has now been writing poetry for over a year and has no intention to stop anytime soon. He writes both for himself and for readers, hoping his audience will connect with his personal experiences in some way, shape, or form. His favorite poems to develop are ones that have significant emotional meaning with a message being projected to the reader.
He hopes you enjoy his collection as much as he enjoys drafting his work.
